The Beauty Scenario Tag

1. You have to get rid of all your foundations, but you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which ones do you keep?
Since I only have one foundation in my beauty stash, one which I keep repurchasing, and one that I'm extremely loyal to, I thought its a good enough of an answer. The foundation that I would keep is my beloved Guerlain Lingerie De Peau. Drugstore-wise, I havent tried any yet, but I would like to try the Healthy Mix one.

2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth, do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?
I'd ignore the subject completely just so I wouldn't put the interviewer in uncomfortable situations, and run the risk of getting on her dark side, so to say...

3. You're not feeling like yourself and need a pick me up lipstick, which would you put on to make yourself feel beautiful?
This is my favorite question because I think lipsticks make all the difference to me. I'd go for the Guerlain Shine Automatique in 265 Pao Rosa.

4. You go back for a day to your teenage years, how would you wear your hair and makeup differently?
I didnt wear any makeup as a teenager, but my hair was catastrophic. I used to cut it really short and pin the front section with either a black shiny clip or a colored one, and it was curly and frizzy! I'd rather let it grow and not pin the front section and look like a total and utter clown!

5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length pixie cut but the hear you wrong and give you a pixie cut, do you 1) smile, say thank you, leave, and call your mom hysterical, 2) Start crying in the chair and things get awkward, 3) complain to the manager and demand a refund?
I'm not big on confrontation, so if I was in such situation or a similar one, I'd just smile and leave feeling horrible.

6.Your friend surprises you with a 4 days city break, and you only have one hour to pack, which do it all palette do you pack in your makeup bag?
Estee Lauder Holiday eyeshadow palette that they had in their holiday kit.

7. Your house has been robbed! Don't worry, everyone is safe, BUT your beauty stash has raided! What's the product you really hope is safe?
My Tom Ford products, simply because they're pretty expensive and nonexistent in my country.

8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition! Do you a) just pretend you haven't noticed, b) ask them to repurchase it, or c) secretly do the same to something of theirs
It depends on how close I am with that friend. If the person was someone close to me and one I felt really comfortable with, I'd ask for an explanation, but not ask them to repurchase it. But if that person was not exactly close to me, I'd just pretend I havent noticed.

For more in-depth answers, watch my video:

I'd love to know what some of your answers are, so feel free to pick a few of the questions and answer them down below, ESPECIALLY the question about how you'd change your look during your teenage years, because I'm sure we all have fun stories to share.

Yellow Neon Dress Perfect Pink Lipsticks

So today is Easter, and I hope that its a good enough opportunity for all of you to decide to wear your most festive bold spring colored lip products. I decided to wear a neon yellow dress, and I had to think of a lipstick shade that will be bold enough to pull the outfit off, put enough emphasis on the dress, yet not look like a zombie. Now my lipstick shades may differ from one to another, and there are many dupes for the shades, but these are the ones I considered wearing, and of course I'll let you know which one I opted for.

1. YSL Rouge Volupte in 08 Fetish Pink. Its a gorgeous pink, without a doubt. But my problem with this one in particular is that the Rouge Volupte's line has a distinctive smell that many people like, yet it puts me off. Plus, I wore this lipstick last Easter, so why would I wear the same shade for two Easters in a row. But honestly, it is still my favorite Easter shade. AAAAND here's a swatch.

2. Lancome Rouge In Love in Violette Coquette. This is arguably the prettiest Fuchsia Pink I have seen so far. It doesn't smell horrible like the earlier one does, and its much longer lasting too. However, I just thought this was a little too much to wear with a bold dress. But if I wore a white dress, this would have definitely been the lipstick of choice for me.

3. Guerlain Rouge Automatique in 166 Shalimar, which is the one I chose. I mainly picked this because it was an identical match to the clutch I used, it was just perfect. I would also call it a neon pink, it was bold but not an overkill for my already bold dress. The formula is very comfortable but long lasting, it has a beautiful sheen but its not glossy. It was just very complimentary and perfect. And I got many compliments wearing it

I hope that you liked my picks. I will definitely do an Easter OOTD if you would like to see it, so do let me know about that! Happy Easter everybody

The Basic 3 Skincare Steps For All Ages

Our poor skin is constantly attacked both by the polluted environment and the makeup some of us wear. I know that its resilient, but we might as well help it maintain its freshness for as long as it can. 3 steps that are essential for everyone, regardless to whether you wear makeup or not, and regardless to your skin type, age, etc. are cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. Yes, moisturizing, for even the oiliest of skins must be moisturized. To learn more about these steps, please keep reading.

Cleansing the face is the most important step of all. You should cleanse both morning and night. Now there are multiple kinds of cleansers. I would recommend using a cleanser that needs to be washed off with water. If you're like me and you still use a soap kind of cleanser, then there are a couple things that you should keep in mind. Yes, you are using a cleanser, but it really shouldn't cleanse your face off of its natural oils, and that is simply because it will encourage the skin to produce more oil and compensate for its' loss, so, if your skin was oily to begin with, it will most likely become oilier. It shouldn't lather and foam up too much, and that is also because it means that the cleanser has unhealthy ingredients such as parabens, etc. I think it should also be friendly enough to be used on both the face and the eyes. I am yet to use a balm cleanser, I actually ordered the Clinique Balm Cleanser which should arrive shortly. I am not particularly fond of milk cleansers, it just never felt comfortable on my skin, even though I have normal-dry skin. The skin I'm currently using, and really loving, is the Dior Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Lily Extract, which doesn't lather up, is gentle on my kinda sensitive eyes, and is alcohol free.

Toning the face is another essential step for 4 reasons. The basic 2 reasons that might be self explanatory which is moisturization and assisting the following steps that follow the toner. Toners should also remove the dead skins that should improve your cellular renewal, as well as balance the pH of the skin. I use two different toners, one which is a moisturizing one on daily basis, and one that is exfoliating, and I use it about 3 times a week. Exfoliating toners seem to get quite a lot of attention nowadays, and honestly I agree with the hype. Exfoliating toners have acids in them, nothing too aggressive that will burn your skins obviously, but enough to remove your dead skin cells. Many toners seen to have high percentages of Alcohol Denatured in them, so make sure that there's enough glycerin in your toner to keep your skin form getting too dry.

Lastly, moisturizing. Honestly, this is the step that really depends on your skin type. But my general advice is to use an alcohol-free, mineral oil-free moisturizer, one that doesn't have a strong fragrance to it, and obviously one that suits your skin type and doesn't have other ingredients that you are sensitive to. The reasons why I do not encourage alcohol is because it'll dry your face too much and make it oilier in the long run, and fragrance causes many allergic reactions, and the mineral oil cannot penetrate into your skin, so your skin will not benefit from any other good ingredients in your skin. Also, I think antioxidants are a great thing to have in your moisturizer because it will combat free radicals and prevent their damage.

CAPISH???
SOOO yeah that's it for today... I hope you learned something from this. Now I am not a dermatologist, I just read a lot about skincare and ingredients, I'd like to call myself a self educated client. And I hope that this lecture was somewhat helpful. Take care of your skin people, and don't skip those steps both day and night!

Spring Look #1: The Daily Coppers With A Twist

Spring to me is kinda like the beginning of my bronzer season. I know some people find pastels more appropriate for spring, and this is a look that will be coming pretty soon I promise, but honestly, I much prefer my coppers.

Since its pretty difficult to do a tutorial on the blog, I decided to talk a little bit about the products, and hopefully do a quick 3-4 minutes tutorial on my YouTube channel. So lets get the copper party started. (No base products discussed here for I have covered the foundation routine topic on both this blog and my channel)

here are the colors involved

Since I mentioned my lovely bronzer, I though I'll start there. I use the Guerlain Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder in 03 Brunettes. This bronzer is more orange toned, which makes it perfect for giving your face a healthy warmth and glow rather than a sculpting effect. It also has very fine shimmer that are, in my experience, undetectable on the skin. It goes on super smoothly on the face, it is pretty pigmented, and very easy to build up and intensify on some areas of your face. I apply this all over my face and neck, and it just looks glamorous, I think. And that's all I do cheeks-wise.

Moving on to the makeup part that I love the best, the eyes. This eye look is super simple that it doesn't need a pro to recreate. I practically use two eyeshadows, a liner, and some mascara. The first eyeshadow is one that I bet every girl who watches a little bit of YouTube has heard of, and probably got. It is the infamous Maybelline Color Tattoo in On And On Bronze, or Bad To The Bronze. I use my mac 239 brush and apply this on my lid, making sure that I do not apply it over my crease, and then I take the very ends of the mac 239 and I run the product along the outer half of my lower lash line. No pro skill needed here! Then I take a coppery powder eyeshadow with a mac 217 and I just apply it over the bronze color we've applied before, and a little into the crease, and of course over the bronze on your lover lash line. Then I take the Lancome LE Crayon Khol Waterproof in 07 Curacao, which is a turquoise teal eyeliner, and line my waterline like a pro! And all you've got to do now is curl those lashes of yours and coat them with a ton of mascara!

For the lips, I love me some good juicy orange corals. Now of course there are plenty of shades like that in the market, but I'm still hooked on the Guerlain Automatique line, and the one we're talking about today is the Rouge automatique in 141 Quand Vient L'Ete. This can honestly be enough on its own since it does have some lovely golden shimmer running through it, but to make it juicer, you should definitely opt for a gloss on top. I love the combination of this lipstick and the Estee Lauder gloss in Praline Paradise which is a peachy nude color with beautiful shimmer too and a lot of shine.

To finish up the look, I also recommend a shimmery metallic coppery nail polish like this Ga-De Crystal Glow Nail Enamel in 815 Tangerine Garnet. Two coats of it and your look is complete.

I purposely did not share a picture of the final look because I'm saving it for the YouTube tutorial which I will hopefully film next week! And it will hopefully include my first outfit of the day, so keep your fingers crossed! But meanwhile, enjoy the swatches.

Dior Gentle Foaming Cleanser With Velvet Peony Extract

I have mentioned this product before in my blog and my YouTube channel (which you should check out and subscribe to, of course!), and I love it, but it seems like I've never actually devoted a blog post solely to tell you guys why I think this product is awesome.

In an attempt to keep this review short and directional, I'll start by saying that this is a cleanser that fulfills all of the standards or expectations I look for in a cleanser.

This is what the tube looks like

The first of my cleanser needs is obvious, I want it to cleanse my face really well. Even when I'm wearing heavier makeup, I find that after I remove my makeup and then use this to cleanse my face, my face will be really clean, and a proof to that is a little to try and use a makeup remover over your cleansed face, and if the cotton pad is still clean, then that means that your face is. However, I do not apply makeup remover over a my freshly cleansed face, I'm just suggesting a way of you testing whether your cleanser really works or not.

Writing on the tube

Second of all, I do not want my face to feel tight and dry afterwards, which I found was the case with many other cleanser. This leaves my face feeling clean, yet comfortable. Usually, cleansers that cleanse your natural oils off of your face make your skin produce more oil to compensate for the loss, but if your cleanser doesn't do that, then your face is probably balanced. This is a great cleanser for all skin types, definitely!

Its a squeeze tube, yay!

Thirdly, I prefer using a cleanser on my eyes too to remove excess makeup remover, mascara, or whatever unwanted things that may still be there on my eyelids. But a cleanser that would burn my eyes is not an option, as you might imagine. But this amazing cleanser doesn't hurt my eyes, and it does the cleansing job superbly.

This is how it looks straight out of the tube, on my dry hand

Last but not least, I am not find of cleansers that lather up, they make breathing a little difficult for me and its just not nice. Not to mention that for a product to lather up, it will need ingredients that aren't healthy for your face, and they tend to make my skin feel super dry and tight. This one really doesn't lather, I can breathe while cleansing, and it doesn't have those foaming nasty ingredients. Win win situation.

Without water

So yeah, to conclude, I highly recommend this, and I think I will be repurchasing it over and over again until it stops being produced. Another randoms conclusion, I am horrible at keeping things short and directional!

With water

What is your favorite cleanser? Or have you tried this one?

MIA Update

Hey folks, sorry I've been absent lately, and I will still be absent for another week or so at least blog-wise. The reason behind that is that I am quite ill atm, I originally had a throat infect, now I also have an eye infection, and its pretty difficult for me to sit in front of the screen and write the normal blogs or so. I hope to see you soon. But since I do not want to leave you empty handed, I have filmed my monthly favorites over on my YouTube channel, so feel free to check it out over there and find out what the bright side of March had in stores for me, and hopefully that'll inspire you too!
